The DesiQ 2006 conference is for you and by you: the diverse South Asian lesbian, gay, bisexual, two-spirit, intersex, queer, and transgender (LGBT) community and our allies. Hosted by Trikone Bay Area, a conference of this magnitude will require a lot of planning and the involvement of many minds and hands. We need you to make this happen. You can become one of the organizers of DesiQ 2006. There are various roles you can play depending on what you feel comfortable with as listed below.

Sponsor or Donor:

An event like this takes many resource, sponsorships, grants and individual donations. Please be part of this remarkable international event by making a contribution today. Donations are tax-deductible and all donors will be mentioned in the program (unless instructed otherwise). Please use the Registration Form to make a donation.

Committee Member

Join one of our 5 subcommittees and have a direct involvement in organizing DesiQ 2006. Send an email to the committee you would like to join.

1. Publicity (DesiQ-Publicity@trikone.org) : The Publicity Committee's role is to publish all the material (printed or softcopy) required, advertise the event and co-ordinate press-releases and press conference. The committee will be responsible to print event booklet, prepare registration package, send out emails ( e.g. for volunteer requirements, announcements etc.), get media-kit ready. The committee will also have to prepare a database of media contacts (print, tv, radio and web) so event can be advertised and press releases can be sent out later. 2. Entertainment (DesiQ-Entertainment@trikone.org) : This committee will deal with all aspects of social and cultural events that would be produced to entertain all the conference attendees. The committee will be responsible for selecting performers, curating art exhibitions, managing events and helping the attendees celebrate their ancestry and sexual identity. 3. Finance (DesiQ-Finance@trikone.org) : The Finance Committee's role is to create financial forecasts and budget, track expenses and revenues, and explore opportunities to generate sources of revenues and grants for DesiQ 2006. The committee will also be responsible for creating and presenting financial reports on a regular basis to the Desi Q2006 Core Committee and Trikone Board. 4. Housing/Travel (DesiQ-TravelandHousing@trikone .org) : The objective of this committee is to coordinate housing for the attendees who have requested community housing during their stay in San Francisco for DesiQ 2006, and to make arrangements for travel and transportation needs of the attendees. The committee will be responsible for finding locals to host the attendees, for matching up hosts with the attendees and to take care of any travel and transportation needs that may arise. 5. Workshop (DesiQ-WorkShopsPrograms@trikone.org) : The Workshops and Program committee will present cultural and political programs that educate queer South Asians and our allies about the diversity within our community, provide international support resources for queer South Asians, foster dialogue, and celebrate South Asian LGBT identities. We will work together to create an educational space which includes keynotes and workshops. This committee will review the various proposals from potential workshop presents, invite keynotes, and arrange the schedule for the same. If you want to help plan or present, please email us. Volunteer
